Bath resealing in Tibbermore, done in place

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. Our repair technicians work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most frequently call us about damp near the bath and old sealant that looks dirty.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

How we price bath resealing

There is no charge for travel to Tibbermore. The price comes down to:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from photos

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any details about the material

Most customers in Tibbermore get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A flexing bath
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow about two hours for a bath. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Common questions in Tibbermore

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower usually takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.

What areas do you cover?

All of Perth and Kinross, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Something is moving. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Common problems we fix in Tibbermore

Even good sealant eventually discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

Most people contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • An untidy old seal
