Bath & shower resealing (mastic) in Newcastle, Down
Bath resealing across Newcastle and nearby, done in a single visit in most cases.
- A messy previous reseal
- Leaks at the edges
- Missing sealant behind the taps

How it works
We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take about two hours for a bath, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
- Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
- The joint is dried thoroughly.
- We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
- We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.
Before we arrive
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Bath resealing in Newcastle without replacing anything
Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. If you are dealing with missing sealant behind the taps and silicone smeared on tiles, we can normally put it right.

Newcastle questions
Is a repair better than a new one?
Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Normally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.
Do you seal over the old sealant?
Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?
Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.
Is there any odour?
There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

For landlords and businesses
If you manage property in Newcastle, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
What your bath or shower is made of matters
Sinks and worktops
We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.
Baths
Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.
Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Keep the joints dry
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use.
Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
