Bath resealing in Oldwood, done in place

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, so the seal doesn’t tear when the bath is first used. We regularly repair baths, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most frequently call us about silicone smeared on tiles and missing sealant behind the taps.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Is resealing worth it?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why book with us

  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Oldwood, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Oldwood questions

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

How much does bath resealing cost in Oldwood?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do you cover the entire of Worcestershire?

We cover the whole UK, including Oldwood and the rest of Worcestershire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

What we’re called out for in Oldwood

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

Questions to ask before booking

  • How the colour is matched
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Aftercare advice
  • How your room will be protected

Our hiring checklist

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off

Avoid scraping the joints, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.
