How we handle bath resealing in Pendeen

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. We’re frequently asked to fix a messy previous reseal and mould you can’t clean out, on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How we price bath resealing

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The type of damage

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Pendeen. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Pendeen, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Signs you need bath resealing in Pendeen

Even good sealant eventually discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Unsealed corners
  • An untidy old seal
  • Black mould in the sealant

Before booking anyone

  • How long it needs to cure
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How changes to the job are handled

Your questions about bath resealing in Pendeen

Can you price it without visiting?

Typically, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

How much does bath resealing cost in Pendeen?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Pendeen

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Why it’s worth resealing in Pendeen

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Fixed prices from your photos

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

The process

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes about two hours for a bath, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know about parking or access

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
