Trusted bath resealing in Plumgarths

About our bath resealing in Plumgarths

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. Typical jobs include gaps by the taps and leaks at the edges, on shower trays & enclosures, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take around two hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Let us know about parking or access

Common questions in Plumgarths

Do you seal over the old sealant?

No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Movement is the usual cause. We fill the bath before sealing it.

How long before I can shower?

Usually after around 24 hours. We confirm before we leave.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

What affects the price in Plumgarths

A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What the surface is made of

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A photo taken from further back

Most customers in Plumgarths get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Resealing in Plumgarths: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we work on in Plumgarths

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Air the room after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
