Bath resealing in Kendal

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

About our bath resealing in Kendal

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Typical jobs include silicone coming away from the tiles and old sealant that looks dirty, across wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cumbria.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Kendal

If you manage property in Kendal, we will quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Kendal use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

How we price bath resealing

We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Send pictures for a quote

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or call us. We will say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
