Questions from Porthleven

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

We will give you the curing time.

Are there extra charges for Porthleven?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What information do you need?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Bath resealing in Porthleven without replacing anything

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s missing sealant behind the taps and damp near the bath, we can typically put it right.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cornwall.

What affects the price in Porthleven

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Porthleven. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a couple of hours from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Ask for a price

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Advice

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Air the room after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

When a repair is not the answer

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.
