About our bath resealing in Riccall

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We’re frequently asked to fix black mould in the sealant and old sealant that looks dirty, across shower trays & enclosures, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

What we’re called out for in Riccall

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning only removes the surface.

Common reasons people in Riccall contact us include:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Black spots in the silicone

Our hiring checklist

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It typically takes about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know about parking or access

In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Riccall?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK, including all of York. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
