Bath resealing in Shop Corner, done in place

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Typical jobs include silicone smeared on tiles and silicone coming away from the tiles, across baths, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

How we price bath resealing

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any details about the material
  • A picture taken from further back

Most clients in Shop Corner get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shop Corner: your questions answered

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

How long before I can shower?

We will give you the curing time, generally around a day.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, generally around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Why it’s worth resealing in Shop Corner

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What a repair cannot fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
