Bath resealing for Siddick homes

Bath resealing at your home in Siddick

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. We regularly repair wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures, and people most frequently call us about stained silicone and black spots in the silicone.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How the visit works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a couple of hours, including clearing up.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

How to get a price

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Related advice

Signs you need bath resealing in Siddick

Even good sealant eventually discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Damp near the bath
  • An untidy old seal

Choosing a repair company

Siddick questions

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Siddick. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Air the room after use

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How we price bath resealing

You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
