How we handle bath resealing in Stratton

All of the old sealant is cut out, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. If you’re dealing with discoloured, yellow sealant and black spots in the silicone, we can usually put it right.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

The process

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a couple of hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Why reseal now?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Everything repaired in place

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Air the room after use

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What affects the price in Stratton

There’s no charge for travel to Stratton. The price comes down to:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Stratton as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
