What a repair can’t fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Our hiring checklist

Prices and what affects them

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage
  • How much damage there is

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Any details about the material

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Questions from Swaffham

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow around two hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
