Resealing in Tai-Drill: why it matters

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. It normally takes about two hours for a bath, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Your questions about bath resealing in Tai-Drill

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

How do I book?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

How long does resealing take?

A bath or shower usually takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide. Prices don’t change with location.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Our hiring checklist

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

How we price bath resealing

You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Most clients in Tai-Drill get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
