Bath resealing for Walston homes

About our bath resealing in Walston

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. We’re frequently asked to fix old sealant that looks dirty and silicone coming away from the tiles, in baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hidden water damage
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

How we price bath resealing

You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

To get a price, send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Resealing in Walston: why it matters

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Let steam out after showers

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
