How we handle non-slip bath coating in Blacksmith's Corner

The coating is clear and textured, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. It suits older people, families and holiday lets. Whether it’s bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten and safety for older or less mobile people, we can generally put it right, on wet room floors (ask us), enamelled baths and shower trays alike.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Blacksmith's Corner as everywhere else we work. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Avoid scourers on the coating.

Why repair rather than replace?

The alternatives are a new textured bath or tray, or relying on a mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A non-slip coating adds grip to the bath you have. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Blacksmith's Corner: your questions answered

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

How do I clean it?

Yes. Use a soft brush and a mild cleaner.

Will a non-slip coating change how my bath looks?

Only slightly: the treated area looks slightly matt.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Are there extra charges for Blacksmith's Corner?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

How we price non-slip bath coating

A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send pictures for a quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Do you need non-slip bath coating in Blacksmith's Corner?

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, yet wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • Worn-out textured areas

Questions to ask before booking

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What prep work is covered

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Blacksmith's Corner as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Enamelled baths
  • Shower trays

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a morning or an afternoon. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We start by degreasing the area where you stand.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. We apply the clear textured coating.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, usually overnight.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
