Non-slip bath coating in Freathy without replacing anything
It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. It’s popular with homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. Common call-outs are for worn-out textured areas and bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten, on acrylic baths, resurfaced baths and shower trays.
All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Do not use abrasive pads on the textured area.

Can I fix it myself?
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Do you need non-slip bath coating in Freathy?
Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, but with soap and water on them they become slippery. Textured areas on older baths wear smooth too.
The most common problems we are called about are:
- Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
- Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
- Worn-out textured areas
- Safety for older or less mobile people

What we cannot put right
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
- Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
- Outdoor surfaces
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Work for landlords and builders
If you manage property in Freathy, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
Freathy questions
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.
Can you price it without visiting?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.
What happens next?
We come back with a fixed price. You are under no obligation.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can you repair several things at once?
Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How we price non-slip bath coating
A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The material
- The colour and finish to match
- How easy the damage is to reach
The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.
How to get a fixed quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- One picture of the entire bath or shower tray
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Natural light rather than flash
For a price in Freathy, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
What we do, step by step
You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
- The area to be treated is masked out.
- We put on the clear non-slip coating.
- We remove the masking for a neat edge.
- We leave it to cure, usually overnight.
Before we arrive
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
Getting a price
Email us a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Freathy, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Should you replace it?
The alternatives are a new textured bath or tray, or a bath mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A coating adds grip to the bath you have. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.
