Need non-slip bath coating in How?

Why repair rather than replace?

Instead, you could go for replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or relying on a mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A non-slip coating treats your existing bath or tray. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

About our non-slip bath coating in How

It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. We regularly repair enamelled baths, resurfaced baths and wet room floors (ask us), and the jobs we see most are worn-out textured areas and safety for older or less mobile people.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Don’t use abrasive pads on the textured area.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How it works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. Next we mask off the area.
  3. We put on the clear non-slip coating.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, typically overnight.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Honest limits

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Resurfaced baths
  • Shower trays
  • Enamelled baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Acrylic baths

What non-slip bath coating costs

We charge the same across the UK, including How. The price reflects:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

If you’re in How and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

When to call us in How

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, yet wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten

What your quote should include

  • How the colour is matched
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether the price covers travel
