Bath repair at your home in GL12

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most often call us about a hole punched through by something heavy and chips caused by builders.

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.

Pricing in GL12

Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Around Wotton-under-Edge

Typical jobs here are in homes near Ancient Ram Inn, Katharine Lady Berkeley's School and The British School, among other places. A little further out are Drakestone Camp (3.2 miles north-west) and Vale Community Hospital (3.4 miles north). For a walk, there’s Nind Nature Reserve.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Signs you need bath repair

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • A chip where the taps sit

Honest limits

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Your questions about bath repair in GL12

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Typically within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Do you cover the whole of Gloucestershire?

We work UK-wide, and that includes GL12. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.
