How bath repair works in HG5
Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, generally in a single visit. Common call-outs are for scuffs and scratches in the surface and a chip where the taps sit, on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.
On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
What it costs in HG5
Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why book with us
- We leave the room as we found it
- A fixed quote before you book
- Most jobs done in one visit
- One price list for the whole UK
How to get a price
A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

In Knaresborough, that means homes near Knaresborough St John's CofE Primary School, King James's School and Board Inn. Other local landmarks include Jacob Smith Park (0.7 miles north-west) and Church of the Holy Trinity (within half a mile south-west). Knaresborough has its own railway station: Knaresborough station. Repair or replace?
Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair fixes just the damaged area in one visit.
What your quote should include
- Who turns up on the day
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
How to care for the repair
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
Repairs by material
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
What we’re called out for in HG5
Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move.
People generally call us after spotting something like this:
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Chips caused by builders
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- Chips under the taps
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
HG5: your questions answered
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Frequently, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
When can I have a bath again?
Most baths can be used the day after. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Can rust on a bath be repaired?
Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.
Will you leave a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
How do I get a price for bath repair in HG5?
Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.
