How bath repair works in IP5
Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We are often asked to fix an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and a hole punched through by something heavy, across pressed steel enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.
Prices in IP5
Our bath repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for IP5. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

When we’d advise against a repair
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
Keeping it looking good
Aftercare is simple:
- Have new chips seen to early
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.
Signs you need bath repair
A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- Chips along the edge of the bath
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
What affects the price in IP5
Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to IP5. The price comes down to:
- How hard the colour is to match
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- The type of damage
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Send photos for a quote
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Natural light rather than flash
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
Email us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your IP5 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
