Bath repair across IP3: what to expect
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We work on acrylic, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel, and common reasons people get in touch are a kit repair that didn’t last and chips under the taps.
When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.
Pricing in IP3

When a repair isn’t the answer
A repair is not right for every job, including:
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
Repairing versus replacing
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you.

Landlord and trade work in IP3

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.
Looking after it afterwards
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.
Different materials, different repairs
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
IP3 questions
Will the repair show?
The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we will tell you what to expect.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We come back with a fixed price. There’s no obligation to book.
When can you do it?
We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
What does bath repair cost?
Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item with your IP3 postcode.
