Our bath repair service in L6
We’ve repaired just about every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. All of it is repaired where the bath stands. Common call-outs are for damage beneath the taps and chips on the rim or sides, in roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.
What you will pay
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why choose Surface Doctor
- One price list for the entire UK
- Every repair guaranteed for a year
- Most jobs done in one visit
- Colour mixed on the day to match

Aftercare tips
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
DIY kit or professional repair?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
When a repair isn’t the answer
We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
Repair or replace?
For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes.
Questions to ask before booking
- What aftercare is recommended
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- Who will actually do the work
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
L6: your questions answered
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Frequently, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.
How long does the repair take to cure?
Generally within a day, though it depends on what we have done.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
How do I book?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.
Can you quote from photos?
Typically, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
