Bath repair across SK16: what to expect

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We work on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are a chip where the taps sit and impact holes in acrylic.

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, including clearing up.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Pricing in SK16

Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including SK16. What changes the price is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for SK16. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in SK16, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Tameside and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Common questions in SK16

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, so SK16 is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

How long before I can use the bath?

Generally the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.
