Bath repair at your home in WS2
Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in a single visit. Typical jobs include rust by the waste and overflow and a kit repair that didn’t last, across cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.
Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- Once it has cured, generally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.
Cost
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
Signs you need bath repair
Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, often before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
It’s worth getting a quote if you see:
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Snagging damage from a refit
Keeping it looking good
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Repairing versus replacing
Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit.
