When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Leaking waste fittings
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • A tray broken in more than one place

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic
  • Stone resin

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Stick to gentle cleaners
  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray

Keep scourers and harsh chemicals off the tray. Warm water and a mild detergent is enough.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.

Do you need shower tray repair in Clynder?

A tired-looking tray is often the result of years of cleaning: abrasive pads, strong chemicals and limescale wear the finish away.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • A cracked shower tray
  • A tray that flexes
  • Chipped corners or rims
  • Scratches in the surface

What shower tray repair costs

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your G84 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we are doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We check the tray for movement first.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. We shape the repair, match the colour and finish it.
  5. It’s left to cure, typically until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Repairing versus replacing in Clynder

When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If the floor is damaged or the tray is badly cracked, replacement may make more sense. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.
