Shower tray repair near Tang

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Leaking waste fittings
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
  • Trays cracked in several places

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron
  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic
  • Enamelled steel

How we handle shower tray repair in Tang

In most cases, a damaged tray can be repaired where it is, from chipped edges to cracks across the floor of the tray. The colour and finish are matched so the repair blends in. Whether it’s damage from a refit or building work and chipped corners or rims, we can help, on stone resin, enamelled steel and ceramic alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Store bottles off the tray
  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use

Check the silicone around the tray every few months, and replace it when it splits or goes black.

A small crack lets in a little water every time you shower, which can damage the floor over time. An early repair is far cheaper than floor repairs.

What happens on the day

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the entire tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is normally usable the day after.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Related advice

Should you replace it?

A new shower tray generally means removing the screen and tiling, relaying the base and re-tiling. A repair or resurface leaves all of that alone. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Same prices wherever you are

Different materials, different repairs

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. They chip and crack from impact, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

What we are called out for in Tang
