How to compare quotes

How we handle tile repair in Brigg

The tile stays where it is, so there’s no need to hunt for a matching tile. If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will say so. Whether it’s cracked floor tiles and damaged tile edges, we can help.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we cannot put right

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Natural stone & granite
  • Marble
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Ceramic tiles

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What tile repair costs

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Brigg. The price reflects:

  • The material and finish
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

Phone photos are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the tiled area, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

What happens on the day

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.
