Tile repair in Penninghame

Tile repair at your home in Penninghame

The tile stays where it is, so you don’t need to find a spare. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will say so. Common call-outs are for discontinued tiles you can’t replace and damaged tile edges, in porcelain tiles, marble and ceramic tiles.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Penninghame as everywhere else we work. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

How we price tile repair

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A photo taken from further back
  • The material, if you know it

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole tiled area, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

When to call us in Penninghame

Dropped pans and tools chip floor tiles, while walls end up with drill holes from old fittings. Cracks can also come from movement in the floor below.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Cracked floor tiles
  • Damaged tile edges
  • Discontinued tiles you can’t replace
  • Chips from dropped pans and tools

What to look for in a quote

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How the colour is matched
  • How soon you can use it again
  • How the room is protected while they work

Penninghame: your questions answered

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

How it works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to a morning or an afternoon, including clearing up.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Penninghame

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Penninghame use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Repair or replace in Penninghame?

Replacing a tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and risking the tiles around it. Repairing it leaves the tile where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
