Tile repair in The Barony without replacing anything

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will tell you. The tile stays where it is, so there’s no need to hunt for a matching tile. Whether it’s damaged tile edges and drill holes from removed fittings, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Questions from The Barony

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can a cracked tile be fixed in place?

Usually, if it isn’t loose.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Do you cover The Barony?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to The Barony and the rest of the Orkney Islands. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to The Barony. The price depends on:

  • The type of damage
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A picture taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Porcelain tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Marble
  • Ceramic tiles

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

10 questions to ask before you book

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping out a damaged tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. Repairing it leaves the tile where it is. Our tile repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

What we do, step by step

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. We level and shape the repair to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the tiled area, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
