Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge
  • Don’t leave spills to soak in

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe up spills promptly, and re-oil wooden worktops regularly.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use particularly around the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.

Repairs by material

Wood

Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, and burns and dents repaired.

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so scratches and burns can often be sanded out and refinished.

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

If you manage property in Little Ireland, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Severe heat marks in quartz
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved
  • Failed support under the worktop

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Little Ireland

  • Solid wood
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz

Repair or replace in Little Ireland?

Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing a section takes time and money. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Our worktop repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why book with us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What we are called out for in Little Ireland

Water around the sink can get into laminate and wood joints, which can cause swelling.

Most people contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface
  • Gouges in the surface
  • Chipped corners

What your quote should include

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How to look after the finish

10 questions to ask before you book

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
