Bath resealing in Little Ireland without replacing anything

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Typical jobs include gaps in the seal and unsealed corners, on baths, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing so mould struggles to take hold.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Why it’s worth resealing in Little Ireland

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Do you need bath resealing in Little Ireland?

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Your questions about bath resealing in Little Ireland

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. You are under no obligation.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit
