Bath re-enamelling in Ancoats without replacing anything
Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and common reasons people contact us are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.
You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Common problems we fix in Ancoats
Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
- Chips and rust in more than one place

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:
- How many items we do on one visit
- The material and finish
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Unusual colours or finishes
Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.
Getting a price from pictures
Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. Try to include:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A photo taken from further back
- Natural light rather than flash
Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

How the visit works
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a full day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the day after.

Repairing versus replacing in Ancoats
A replacement often means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, normally one day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why us?
- Generally one visit, start to finish
- Rooms protected and left tidy
- No need to remove anything
- We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.
For landlords and businesses
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
Aftercare tips
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
- Repair dripping taps early
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.
On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
