FAQs for Strangeways
Will there be a smell?
It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Do you cover the entire of Greater Manchester?
The entire UK, including all of Greater Manchester. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.
Will you leave a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Strangeways
Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Common call-outs are for wear marks under the taps and staining under the taps and around the waste, on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Repairing versus replacing in Strangeways
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, normally one day. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What happens on the day
We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. You can expect it to take most of the day, and we will keep you posted as we go.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the next day.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

How to look after the repair
Looking after the surface is easy:
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
Work for landlords and builders
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
