Surface repairs across M4

Our bath repair service in M4

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. We work on acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most frequently call us about damage beneath the taps and cracks in an acrylic bath.

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Pricing in M4

Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

What we’re called out for in M4

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.

Customers generally contact us about:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Holes from dropped items

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Should you replace it?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price.

Your questions about bath repair in M4

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, M4 included. There is no extra charge for travel.
