Bath re-enamelling near Ballifeary

Bath re-enamelling in Ballifeary, done in place

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. If you’re dealing with a coating lifting around the plughole and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, we can usually put it right, on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Why repair rather than replace?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, usually one day. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes a full day. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Access to the area

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send photos for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Ballifeary: your questions answered

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Will there be fumes?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Do you cover the whole of Highland?

The whole UK, including all of Highland. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.
