About our bath re-enamelling in Botany
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Whether it’s an old resurfacing that’s failing and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can generally put it right.
Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Repair or replace: which is better?
A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Botany. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Common questions in Botany
Do I have to be there?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
Is there a call-out fee?
There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Will the bath be moved?
Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send photos.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
For landlords and businesses
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Access to the area
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The type of damage
- Whether we combine several jobs
Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Send photos for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Natural light rather than flash
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
Email us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you are in Botany, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What else we do in Botany
When we would advise against a repair
A repair is not right for every job, for example:
- A bath split right through the body
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- A bath that is rusted through
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.
Materials we repair
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
How it works
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a full day.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Preparing for the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
How to get a price
Most clients in Botany get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
Aftercare tips
Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Store bottles off the bath
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.
