Trusted bath re-enamelling in Brayton

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why Brayton clients choose us

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • No need to remove anything
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Bath re-enamelling in Brayton without replacing anything

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths, and people most often call us about a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

What happens on the day

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Getting a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Brayton: your questions answered

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send photos.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Are there extra charges for Brayton?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

When we would advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Landlords, agents and businesses in Brayton

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

What we are called out for in Brayton

Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

What your quote should include

  • How to care for the finish
  • What prep work is covered
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
