Bath re-enamelling in Bridgtown, done in place
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is usually the most cost-effective option. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We are frequently asked to fix an outdated colour you’d like to change and an old resurfacing that’s failing, on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:
- How much damage there is
- What kind of damage it is
- The material
- Whether we combine several jobs
The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.
Send photos for a quote
Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:
- Details of any past repairs
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Any details about the material
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
Honest limits
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- A bath split right through the body
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
Materials we work on in Bridgtown
- Basins & shower trays
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
Aftercare tips
To keep it looking its best for years:
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Never use suction bath mats
- Have chips seen to early
Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.
Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
Bridgtown questions
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
How long is the bath unusable?
Typically a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.
Is there a smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.
Repair or replace in Bridgtown?
There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

How it works
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
How to prepare
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Clear the area around the damage
