Questions from Church Aston

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Church Aston included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

How long is the bath unusable?

Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Will the new finish last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Bath re-enamelling in Church Aston without replacing anything

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We are often asked to fix a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a coloured bath you want in white, across cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

Landlord and trade work in Church Aston

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Telford and Wrekin and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Repair or replace in Church Aston?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why Church Aston clients choose us

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • One visit for most repairs
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Common problems we fix in Church Aston

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing

What your quote should include

  • If travel is included in the price
  • Who turns up on the day
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Choosing a repair company

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
