Bath re-enamelling near Clift

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Clift

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Whether it’s stains that won’t shift and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Honest limits

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A picture taken from further back

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Clift, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Common questions in Clift

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Will there be fumes?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Have chips seen to early

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Repair or replace in Clift?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
