Common questions in Compass
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.
Is there a smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Which areas do you work in?
We cover the entire UK, including Compass and the rest of Somerset. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.
Can you price it without visiting?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Somerset.
What happens after I send photos?
We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.
Bath re-enamelling in Compass without replacing anything
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Whether it’s enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a coloured bath you want in white, we can help.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Repair or replace: which is better?
When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Compass. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
What you get with us

What affects the price in Compass
Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. The main factors are:
- The material
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How easy the damage is to reach
We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
How to get a fixed quote
Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- One picture of the whole bath
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

For landlords and businesses
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
If you manage property in Compass, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Compass
A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.
Send us a photo if you notice any of these:
- An old resurfacing that is failing
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

Aftercare tips
It’s all simple stuff:
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
How it works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.
Before we arrive
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Let us know which floor the room is on
Ask for a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

When we would advise against a repair
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
- A metal bath with a through crack
- A bath that’s rusted through
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
Materials we repair
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
Can I fix it myself?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
