Need bath re-enamelling in Darland?

What we are called out for in Darland

The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Stains that will not shift
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

10 questions to ask before booking

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Darland

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. Whether it’s an old resurfacing that’s failing and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can typically put it right.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Repair or replace in Darland?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

Questions from Darland

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What areas do you cover?

All of Wrexham, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which generally takes the best part of a day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Darland, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
