Bath re-enamelling in Davidson's Mains

About our bath re-enamelling in Davidson's Mains

If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is usually the most cost-effective option. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We regularly repair acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people get in touch are wear marks under the taps and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Davidson's Mains as everywhere else we work.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Davidson's Mains?

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Our hiring checklist

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

What we cannot put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Davidson's Mains

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Repairing versus replacing in Davidson's Mains

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • One price list for the entire UK
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Davidson's Mains questions

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Davidson's Mains. Prices do not change with location.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Davidson's Mains?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Will the new finish last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes most of the day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Doing more than one item at once

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any details about the material

If you’re in Davidson's Mains and want a price, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Edinburgh and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
