Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Bath re-enamelling in Deerland, done in place

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. If you are dealing with enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

How the visit works

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size

Send us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your SA62 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

FAQs for Deerland

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, so Deerland is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

How long is the bath unusable?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Deerland

Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Stains that will not shift
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
