Bath re-enamelling in Eastfields without replacing anything
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is usually the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Whether it’s a roll-top that’s seen better days and wear marks under the taps, we can help, whatever the material.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
When to call us in Eastfields
The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
People usually call us when they notice something like this:
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
- Wear marks under the taps
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
- Several chips and rust patches

Can I fix it myself?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
What a repair cannot fix
A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:
- Steel that has corroded right through
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
What we work on
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Eastfields. What changes the price is:
- The material and finish
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- How many areas need work
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Getting a price from photos
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Something in shot to show the size
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
Questions from Eastfields
How long does re-enamelling take?
Generally one day, with the bath ready the next day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.
What does bath re-enamelling cost?
Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.
Will you leave a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
Will the price change on the day?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.
Are you accredited?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Do you charge for travel?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Aftercare tips
To keep it looking its best for years:
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
Repair or replace: which is better?
A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Prices start from £350. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.
