Choosing a repair company

About our bath re-enamelling in Ellesborough

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and the jobs we see most are an outdated colour you’d like to change and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Ellesborough: your questions answered

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Normally, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What happens on the day

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a full day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the next day. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

When a repair is not the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we work on in Ellesborough

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
