Bath re-enamelling in Escott

How it works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a full day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Open a window if you can
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Whether it’s wear marks under the taps and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can help, on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths alike.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Should you replace it?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Escott. The price reflects:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

What do you need from me?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Common problems we fix in Escott

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Stains that will not shift
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

Before you book anyone

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
