Landlords, agents and businesses in Flaxpool

For anyone letting property in or around Flaxpool, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

What affects the price in Flaxpool

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Flaxpool. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Most customers in Flaxpool get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

The process

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to most of the day.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the day after.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Common questions in Flaxpool

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Generally, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Flaxpool?

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. The body of the bath is generally perfectly sound.

Customers typically contact us about:

  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Stains that will not shift
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
