Bath re-enamelling in Fonthill Gifford

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Fonthill Gifford

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and common reasons people contact us are stains that won’t shift and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Work done at your home or business
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

Fonthill Gifford questions

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Will the new finish last?

Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths, ready the next day. We give you timings with the quote.

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That is the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Look out for these signs:

  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

How to compare quotes

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Wiltshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes the best part of a day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
