Bath re-enamelling for Gaer-fawr homes

Gaer-fawr: your questions answered

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Gaer-fawr?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

About our bath re-enamelling in Gaer-fawr

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. Whether it’s stains that won’t shift and thin, worn enamel in places, we can help, whatever the material.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Gaer-fawr as everywhere else we work.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

How it works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a full day, tidy-up included.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Gaer-fawr

The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Several chips and rust patches

Should you replace it?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Gaer-fawr. What changes the price is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Gaer-fawr. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

Phone photos are fine. Ensure they show:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.
